What SAPIP is

SAPIP is a research and discovery platform for South African public procurement. It organises public source records into connected pages for tenders, buyers, suppliers, awards, contracts and categories.

Instead of treating each tender as an isolated notice, SAPIP helps users follow the wider procurement trail—from an opportunity to the organisation that issued it, the suppliers associated with outcomes, and the contracts disclosed afterwards.

Why SAPIP exists

Public procurement information is often spread across notices, releases, documents and outcome records. SAPIP makes that information easier to search, compare and revisit so that businesses, researchers, journalists and interested members of the public can ask better questions of the data.

Our aim is not to replace official procurement channels. It is to make public information more usable and its relationships easier to understand.

More than a tender list

A tender listing tells you that an opportunity exists. A connected procurement record can also show who issued it, which category it belongs to, how that buyer has procured similar work, which awards are linked to the process, and what supplier or contract information is available.

That connected context is the foundation of SAPIP’s intelligence features, including research insights, what’s new and the procurement calendar.

Who SAPIP is for

SAPIP is designed for businesses researching opportunities, suppliers tracking buyer activity, analysts studying procurement patterns, journalists investigating public records and researchers exploring public-sector demand.

Public records can be browsed without an account. Registered users can save searches and records, follow buyers or suppliers, manage their opportunity profile and choose alert preferences.

Independent and source-conscious

SAPIP is independent. It is not a government department, is not operated by National Treasury, and does not represent any buyer, supplier or procuring entity shown on the platform.

We preserve source identifiers and explain how imported records are handled through our data sources, methodology and coverage notes.

What SAPIP does not do

SAPIP does not accept tender submissions, guarantee procurement outcomes, verify every source field, provide legal or bid-writing advice, or make decisions for buyers or suppliers. Official tender documentation and the relevant procuring entity remain authoritative.

The platform will grow with the data

SAPIP is being developed in stages. The current focus is a reliable public catalogue, connected record pages, transparent source handling and useful research views. Future account features will be introduced carefully, with clear controls for saved records, alerts and preferences.
